Manobi Africa is recruiting an experienced Project Manager to lead the development of its agCelerant agriculture business in Senegal.

Manobi Africa has developed an innovative software suite, which is now implemented in two distinct platforms: agCelerant for agriculture and UtilitY85 for water distribution.
The agCelerant™ platform aims to connect smallholder farmers to banks, insurance, input suppliers and agribusiness to minimize risk across the entire agricultural value chain continuum, from production to marketing.
Combining a team of field agents and a cloud-based digital infrastructure, agCelerant is a comprehensive solution that helps farmers increase their yields and incomes by providing access to trade credit and enabling the use of inputs as recommended in quality and quantity.
AgCelerant is unique in the market because it secures loan repayment, opening up the agricultural market to commercial banks. AgCelerant’s main distinguishing features, expressed as a “phygital” solution, are based on the “proximal” presence of agents throughout the agricultural season with weekly monitoring and control of value chain operations. This approach allows for a detailed knowledge of the farmer, the household, the assets and the agronomic practices, thus ensuring the most efficient implementation of best practices and securing financial transfers for the benefit of all.
The agCelerant platform is currently established in four countries and is experiencing significant development in Senegal in the rice value chain.
To meet the expected growth in Senegal, Manobi Africa is looking for a Project Manager to head up agCelerant operations in Senegal.
Responsibilities
The agCelerant Project Manager will conduct all activities necessary to:
- Achieve the time, cost, and quality objectives of each rice season ;
- Ensure the commercial development of the rice value chain in Senegal, in order to achieve growth from 5,000 hectares in the first half of 2023 to 250,000 hectares in 2027.
- The agCelerant Project Manager will work closely with the Manobi Africa General Manager and Manobi’s commercial, technical, financial and administrative departments.
In order to carry out his/her mission, the Project Manager must: :
- Coordinate the implementation of each rice season, respecting the imperatives of the crop calendar
- Organize the teams in charge of agCelerant operations for each season (recruitment, motivation, training, objectives, etc.)
- Control the quality of agCelerant operations in terms of compliance with deadlines, respect for procedures, quality and veracity of data, etc.
- Ensure the financial management of the project (financing, supply of goods and services, disbursements, sales, receipts).
- Ensure the technical and contractual management of the project (Manobi’s technical department, subcontractors and partners).
- Ensure quality relationships with clients and partners in the agCelerant agricultural value chain.
- Represent agCelerant and the Manobi Africa group to project partners.
- Identify and develop partnership and funding opportunities to accelerate agCelerant’s deployment in the rice value chain and other value chains.
- Participate in the development of Manobi Africa’s strategy for the agricultural sector.
- Report weekly on the progress of the project to the Manobi Management Committee.
As part of his or her mission, the Project Manager must
- Have a perfect knowledge of project management methods;
- Master project management and office automation tools;
- Know how to write technical and commercial specifications and write offers;
- Know the project’s business actors;
- Master the techniques of budgetary control;
- Develop good communication skills with project teams, clients and partners;
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Motivated by Manobi Africa’s mission to develop, with agCelerant, Africa’s food sovereignty based on the inclusion of small-scale producers.
- Graduate (university) in a relevant discipline (marketing and communication, social sciences, international management, international development studies, agricultural sciences).
- Passionate about the use of digital technologies in agriculture or other economic sectors in developing countries.
- Experienced in the development and management of agricultural development initiatives in a concrete environment
